Immersive Night Garden
Objective
An immersive night garden allows people to experience and perceive the benefits of natural preservation.
My role
I perform Layout design, conceptual illustration, and visual perspectives, Plantings and material selection, visual perspectives, 3D model visualization, and Construction Drawing.
Interactive Lighting
Design an app that allows users to view a catalog of plants and place them in their garden via augmented reality.The pop-up garden exhibits a physical and virtual garden that represents the global deforestation issue and points out the solution.
Augmented reality
Augmented reality is the ideal medium for telling a 3D tale and inviting the audience to immerse themselves in it because of its immersive nature. The means of telling stories have also changed over time. From the spoken word to books to movies to augmented reality, we've come a long way. User interactions are essential to any virtual experience. The same applies to AR storytelling. The appeal of augmented reality is that it immerses the user in a three-dimensional environment, allowing for a wide range of interactions not possible in the more common two-dimensional virtual world.
Interactive Garden
Discover a variety of lighting effects, projection mapping, and musical performances. Immerse users in an augmented reality adventure using the Rooftop Garden application. The stunning 84 square meters of gardens have been turned into a lit-up, enchanted fairyland of technicolor flowers. Users can explore the Night Garden to find themselves in this magical realm. The 10-15 minute Night Garden experience allows visitors to explore a neon playground with hidden fairy realms and aurora-colored hedges.
Site Condition
Located on the north of Bangkok, Thailand, the rooftop area is on the 5th floor of the building with 84 sq.m. The challenging constraint is 20 centimeters thick concrete floor that couldn’t resist a lot of load. So, the design criterias are limitation of load bearing, available space , and clients’ program.
Design solution
A cascade garden with mixed shrub plant pots were proposed to the garden design. “The picturesque garden” is the concept of painting that like a artist drawing , similarly the planting is the colorful material to paint in the garden as well. Also, using light materials iwill help limit the load of overall construction such as steel and fiberglass.
