Building virtual worlds: video games and autobiographical architecture
In my view, video games represent unparalleled realms of freedom and creativity. When I engage with The Sims, it's an opportunity to craft my own unique spaces, where considerations of dimensions and furniture ignite my creative thinking. My experience with GTA transcends its apparent focus on chaos; instead, I find joy in navigating the city's expanse, from the thrill of motorcycle rides to the serene moments of sailing and flying. The diverse landscapes within the game become a canvas for exploration and discovery.
Each game, with its distinct objectives and underlying concepts, ultimately weaves its own narrative. Whether it's the story scripted by the developers or one that emerges from our interactions within these virtual worlds, we find ourselves deeply immersed. It's not just about the characters we control but also about the personal tales we craft, the environments we shape, and the creative footprint we leave behind. In essence, video games offer a narrative journey where our imagination and creativity take the lead, revealing the profound connection between storytelling and play.
This brings me to an important realization—every video game, regardless of its genre or objectives, is a vessel for storytelling. Whether it's through the scripted narratives crafted by the developers or the spontaneous adventures we create as players, games are teeming with stories waiting to be uncovered.
They invite us to immerse ourselves not only in the tales of the characters but also in our own narratives of creativity and discovery.

The collaborative project by @beatsbyholly (sound) and @opekarlukas (point cloud photography) offers a fascinating exploration into the perception of reality. It presents an ambiguous space where matter exists as an elusive mathematical structure, devoid of substance until observed from various perspectives. The project invites us to discover the hidden beauty in structures inspired by plants and trees, with more information and NFT links available at their showcase.
My experience within this space was captivating; I felt as though I was floating and flying, unbound by gravity, which allowed for a unique form of interaction and exploration. The opportunity to view and potentially purchase art within this environment added a tangible element to the otherwise ethereal experience. The dynamic particles, moving in harmony with the sound design, further enriched the immersive theme, making the space feel alive and responsive.
Experiencing art in a 3D space on the web was incredibly exhilarating. The element of surprise and anticipation of what might appear next kept me engaged and curious. This project successfully blends artistic expression with digital innovation, creating an immersive and memorable journey through a beautifully crafted digital landscape.
